The Latest International News From Buick: The 2020 Buick Lacrosse

Released earlier this year, the 2020 Buick LaCrosse is a pretty good looking machine. It’s got some car enthusiasts wondering, why couldn’t Buick design a car that looks this great aesthetically twenty years ago? The 2020 LaCrosse will be the first Buick model that adopts GM’s eighth-generation Ecotec engine. These brand new, turbo-charged LSY 2.oL engines are mated to the new 9-speed automatic transmission implemented by GM. This combination delivers 237 horsepower plus 258 pound-feet of torque.

SAIC-GM confirmed that the LSY is their first engine that can competently meet the 6B emissions standards which come into effect in 2020. In time, the 2020 LaCrosse model will be released with a new, turbo-charged 1.3L L3T engine, which can deliver 160 horsepower.

With nine available speeds and 237 horsepower, this car could be considered underpowered when compared to its competitors. That said, it’s beautifully crafted, and more refined than ever.

Now that GM has shut down the GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant where vehicles were being manufactured, it’s unlikely this model will be widely available in the United States, Canada, or Mexico. You might see some imported models on the highways, though, and there’s a chance that used models will someday be available here at Faulkner Buick!
